95 Registered Adams Ranch Braford Heifers from grossed $144,025 to average $1,516
One of the largest crowds of Braford enthusiasts in recent memory was on hand for Advancing the Braford Breed 7 held recently at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana. 34 buyers from 8 states took home 153 head of high quality Braford cattle from breeders across the country. The crowd was appreciative of the pounds heavy and easy handling Braford bulls and the uniformity and obvious maternal ability present in the Adams Ranch Braford females.
Will Clement, Wray, Georgia purchased the day’s top selling bull when he paid $10,200 to own Lot 307, ACC 8125 MR 629 ET, a half blood powerhouse sired by H5 9131 Domino 2185 from Alleman Cattle Company, Rayne, LA. He gained over 5 lbs per day on test and scanned a big REA with an IMF score of 4.4.
Jim Harvey, Okeechobee, FL won the bid on the day’s second high selling bull when he paid $6,900 to own Lot 114, TR DC Insight 552 consigned by Thunderstorm R Cattle Co, Nacogdoches, TX. This power packed son of TR 501 Depth Charge 516 was the sale’s high performing bull, ranking #1 for YW, WW and REA EPDs.
S5 Farms, Iowa, LA consigned the third high selling bull to Advancing the Braford Breed 7. This consignment was Lot 205, S5 CM MR 198 and he was the second ranked YW EPD bull in the entire offering and scanned over 5 for IMF. He was purchased by Lloyd Savell, Florien, LA.
Lot 217, BR 1201 MR 5060, was the fourth high selling bull in the sale. Daniel’s Poultry, Magnolia, MS was the purchaser as they paid $6,000 to own this son of HBR MR 1201, the fourth ranking Milk EPD bull in the offering. He also gained over 4.2 lbs per day and scanned 4.3 for IMF. He was consigned by Bill Rainer, New Summerfield TX and Union Springs, AL.
Ryan Marmande, Theriot, LA topped the registered female portion of the sale when he paid $1,625 each, to own the Lot 3, pen of five spring bred heifers calving January through March. All the registered bred heifers were consigned by Adams Ranch, Fort Pierce, FL.

Wet weather and flooding did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of 65 buyers from 10 states who bid on and bought Braford cattle in the first ever Advancing the Braford Breed 6 Spring Sale, on March 17, 2016, in Lake Charles, LA. 130 Bulls and females from eight top consignors from across the nation were developed on a high roughage diet and only the top end were sold in the Advancing the Breed Sale.
The day’s top selling bull at $8,000 was lot 126, TR CM Big Deal 509P, purchased by Bill Rainer, Union Springs, AL. This powerful RMR 206 Critical Mass 0072 son ranked #2 for YW EPD, # 4 for REA and Marbling EPD in the offering. He was consigned by Thunderstorm R Cattle Co, Nacogdoches, TX.
Lot 131, TR CM Affirmed 520S, was the second high selling bull in the offering at $7,000. Jody and Deb Boyer, Boynton, OK paid the bid price for this well balanced and complete Critical Mass son who was the #1 herd sire prospect offered for Marbling EPD. He was also consigned by Thunderstorm R.
Thunderstorm R and Critical Mass struck again producing the third high selling bull TR CM Overdrive 522P. Purdy Braford Ranch, Lake Charles, LA paid $6,500 to own the # 2 ranked Average Daily Gain bull out of a Legacy daughter.
Running M Ranch, Tallahassee, FL purchased the fourth high selling bull, Lot 183, BR 63-Y MR 5032. This big performing son of RMR Top Hand 6064 was consigned by Bill Rainer, Union Springs, AL.
The day’s high selling female, at $3,100 was TR LG Beth 539P, lot 502. This big REA EPD Legacy daughter is out of a Critical Mass daughter and was purchased by Lazy Acre Cattle Ranch, Grand Chenier, LA. She was consigned by Thunderstorm R.
The second high selling female was Lot 520, BR 63Y MS 5077 at $3,000 to Running M Ranch Tallahassee, FL. This Home Run daughter featured top 3% REA and top 4% Marbling and Milk EPDs compared to the breed. Her dam posted 2 @ 116WR and she was consigned by Bill Rainer, Union Springs, AL.
Lot 503, TR CM Dreamsicle 543P was the third high selling female at $2,600. This Critical Mass daughter, boasting top 2% of the breed REA and Marbling EPDs, was purchased by Roy Ruiz, San Antonio, TX. She was consigned by Thunder Storm R.
